From January 2017 IFA’s (Independent Financial Advisors) and other professionals who provide financial advice will need to comply with a new MiFID II Level 1 directive which concerns all telephone calls or electronic communications with clients or potential customers where there is an "intention to conclude a transaction." Firms will be required to record these communications and keep these records for five years (a further two years where the 'MiFID II Member State national competent authority requests'.)
